A class of richly decorative shuttle-wovenfabrics, often made in colored silks and with or without gold and silver threads. 7. Tafetta. A crisp, smooth, plain-woven fabric with a slight sheen, made of various fibres, such as silk, rayon, or nylon, and used especially for women's garments. 8. Tissue. A fine, very thin fabric, such as gauze. 9. Silk. A fine, strong, soft lustrous fibre produced by silkworms in making cocoons and collected to make thread and fabric.
